Welcome to Salisbury Counselling. For us, we highly respect you, your privacy and confidentiality. We follow Australian Privacy Principles. Here is the summary of how we protecct you and your information.
Your Personal Information
To provide an effective service to you, Salisbury Counselling collects and records personal information from you that is relevant to your current situation. We only collect information that is necessary to provide an effective and responsible service for the help you need.
Using Personal Information
Salisbury Counselling will only use personal information for the purpose for which it is gathered, and other lawful uses including service management, monitoring of service usage and clincial audit or educational purposes (such as academic publications).
Using information for teaching and training
Salsibury Counselling also provided the community education. We value learning and continuous improvement. That means we may use information for training, teaching, community education and audit purposes. We need our partners may also use anonymous information in our professional publications and presentations. We never use personal identifying information in public - we always keep our clients anonymous.
Anonymous feedback on services to funders
As required, our program may receive the funding from the funder (either Government, Not for profit or Commerical). As part of their funding, they may require us to provide them with general information about people using our services and whether the services are helpful. Funding bodies cannot access identifying details like your name when they get this general information. In other words, you cannot be identified when this happens.
Confidentiality at Salisbury Counselling
Salisbury Counselling is committed to protecting your confidentiality within our agency.
Limits to Confidentiality
Internationally (outside of Australia), limits to confidentiality will not applied. If you are located in Australia, confidentiality cannot be kept in some situations. Here are examples of these situations:
a. Staff may become concerned about someone's safety, the safety of someone's property, or about information following a major crime. If this happens, the staff member may have an ethical, professional or legal obligation to promote safety by information appropriate parties.
b. The Australian Family law Act requires staff to notify a prescribed child welfare authority of any reasonable grounds for suspecting a child has been abused, or is at risk of being abused.
c. State laws in South Australia required staff to notify a prescribed child welfare authority if they have reasonable grounds for suspecting a child has been abused, or is at risk of being abused. Staff will follow South Australian Government Information Sharing Guidelines to prevent harm to children's development.
d. For some services, practitioners may assit any Independent Children's Lawyer (ICL) appointed under the Family Law Act (1975) to represented children in family law matters.
e. Salisbury Counselling will only provide client details when we are required by law or authorised by law.
I understand that Salisbury Counselling has a privacy policy convering my personal information. I understanding confidentiality and its limits. I understand I can ask later about privacy and confidentiality.
I understand that anonymous data about me (e.g. without identifying details) may be transferred to funding bodies as required in our contracts and I agree to this occurring.
I understand using telehealth, or other online communication with Salisbury Counselling may caused additional risks from doing it.
I consent to be contacted by Salisbury Counselling at a later date to participate in follow up, research or program evalucation activites. I understand however that I can change my mind at any time about this consent.
